Swimming across the bay at camp

One of the perks of living in Ontario again is that we only live three hours away from the Salo camp. Situated close to Killarney, it is in a very picturesque are. Every season is visually appealing. Autumn is my favourite season to visit in, but I will go every chance I can. We try to get a visit in during the spring, while the lake is still quiet and the nights are still cool. This spring was Autumn’s first visit and we were able to stay for four nights. What a peaceful place. No cell service, no noise pollution, and only a handful of people for company.  The lake, as anticipated, was cool, refreshing and perfect for swimming. I love a good jump in the lake as much as the next person, the thrill of being turtle bait ( first one in), the feel of your skin as the water cools it, even the familiar smell of the lake, bringing back golden childhood memories. Even better than a dip in the lake, is a swim across the bay. Last year we did it as a family of five, but now we number six. Armed with puddle jumpers, noodles and a baby and mommy inflatable that has a slow leak, we made our way across the bay. Autumn was a trooper, with minimal complaining. The only one who complained much, was the dog, who thought that she had been abandoned by her people. Overall, it was a lovely swim and I was pleasantly surprised that we were able to cross this one off the list so early in the year.
