A Funny Thing Happened

Everywhere we have gone so far, we have been met by friendly people, who are quick to help and exchange conversation. Everyone is curious about where their camping neighbours came from and they all have stories to tell. The morning that we were to leave Tatamagouche Bay, Elijah struck up a conversation with two couples who were also heading towards the Cabot Trail. By the time we packed up to leave, they knew the names of our dog and children. We wished each other happy adventures and went on our way, not expecting to see them again, as we planned on heading up the west side and they, the east.  Not long into our days drive, we pulled into a gas station to fill up on propane, gas and goodies, just to run into them again. After a little laugh at the coincidence, we carried on and soon missed our turn to go west, instead heading towards Baddeck. (This turned out to be good in the long run, as the roads are not fun in a 30ft motorhome and I wasn’t even driving.) We chose a campground at random and as Elijah was paying for a site, our fellow travellers pulled up behind us. Now, you might think that maybe they followed us, but we had just turned around in Baddeck, adding around 15 minutes to our drive. We also left at a different time in the morning and made a stop for groceries along the way. We said hello like old friends and had pleasant conversation throughout our stay, They had decided to stay an extra night and so once again we left with the expectation of not running into each other again, just to cross paths a few hours later at a museum. In the four days since, we haven’t seen them again, but I do hope that their days have been enjoyable and full.
