Building sand castles

Greetings from PEI! What a beautiful province this is. It may be Canada’s smallest, but it sure packs a big punch. Our fourth night on the road was spent in Moncton, which was an interesting trip. The kids spent the entire day in the RV, driving through Quebec and New Brunswick and were absolutely wonderful. Even Autumn was an angel, at least until the sun set and we got a little lost after dark in Moncton. It turns out that our exit was before Moncton, so we missed it before we even started looking for it. That’s okay though, we found a lovely spot to spend the night and they were sweet and let us in even though it was half an hour past closing time for them. In the morning we went and bought groceries and had a nice little visit with Clair and Braeden. It’s crazy how much little ones grow from year to year and yet seem to stay the same. We left Moncton with plenty of time to get to the island. To get onto the island, you either take a ferry or drive over the 13 km confederation bridge. We took the bridge. What a neat experience. So. Much. Water. Once on the island, you are greeted by a cute little tourist town full of very friendly people who are more than willing to point you where you want to go. We have decided to spend our week here on the points east coast portion of the island. One could spend years here and not see all that there is to see. I would love to come back again someday and see the rest of the island, particularly Green Gables. I hate to admit it, but I have yet to read the books.

We are staying at a provincial park and just like the ones in Ontario; this one has activities for the kids. (Not that it’s needed with a beach like the ones here) Last night, they were holding a sand castle building competition. Only our family and a pair of sisters showed up, since it’s the off season, but we had a blast anyways. Attention spans only last so long with young children and the best part is always destroying the castle at the end. After patching Hunter crushed walls numerous times, we finally had a picture worthy castle. One more item checked off of the bucket list.
