Great
adventures always seem to have a magical quality about them. Our second stop
was a little south of Montreal, to visit the Fitzgibbon family. They are some
of the most wonderful people that I have had the privilege of knowing. We met
in Cold Lake, when our eldest children were still little. Together with a few
other awesome friends, we had weekly get togethers where we explored the
provincial park, local playgrounds and trails, each other’s back yards and
Sandi’s farm. We seldom went more than a few days without seeing each other.
When it came time to say good bye and move back home, it was leaving that group
of friends that finally brought me to tears. Seeing the Fitzgibbon’s last year
was just as it had been a year prior, it was as if only a few days had past.
Somehow, another year has passed and the children have grown taller, but still
came together, played and fought in the same way that they did as toddlers and
preschoolers. We enjoyed a delicious meal together, which included shrimp that
Megan cooked to start our east coast trip off on the right foot. While the
adults were catching up, the children found a little magic to add to their play
in the form of fairy homes and fairies to play with in the shade of a mulberry
tree. Who would have guessed that we would be able to cross that one off of the
bucket list on a short visit to see friends?
